This is an idyllic location to get your horse out on the grass after a run. We’re happy to work with you and your feeding regime, to ensure the horse gets what they need during their freshen-up.
We have big, safe boxes to ensure your horse gets the box rest they need. We have a pony on standby should a calming friend be needed. For Box Rest horses, we work with you and your vets for any treatments.
Horses needing time in the paddock before they move to quarantine or travelling can enjoy the space and grass in one of our luscious paddocks. We work with your vets to ensure any pre-quarantine bloodwork is completed, in addition to any pre-travel expectations are being fulfilled.
Every horse is different, which is why every horse is approached with an individual spelling program at Tilba farm. Individual spelling programs are planned for each horse, in consultation with their trainer, to ensure expectations for your horse are met.
Whether they’re out in the paddock for a few days or a few months, their feeding, rugging and farrier routines are all tailored to suit each horse.
For horses who have been here before, we know them and we know how they spell. Some are big eaters. Some are fussy eaters. And some, enjoy the grass a little too much.
For horses we haven’t met, we do our very best to ensure we get to know them quickly. We always allow a few days to introduce the feed slowly, see how they settle and see how they are on the grass.
With imported horses, particularly those from the Northern Hemisphere, we take it extra slowly and often offer a grain-free and low-sugar feeding program to mitigate any hoof related issues arising.
Every horse is kept on a balanced diet and at an optimum weight for their spelling stay and we’re very happy to liaise with you on how you want your horse spelled.
